Guidelines for Authors

Authors are required to send a 3.500 characters (including spaces) abstract by January 31st, 2018.

The Scientific Committee will evaluate abstracts and inform authors by March 9th, 2018.

If accepted, a 2 pages extended abstract must be produced by April 20th, 2018.

Abstract submission

Please create a username and password which will allow access to the on-line abstracts submission system. The email address provided by the submitting author will be used in all communications related to the abstract. Abstracts must be submitted through this system. Abstracts sent by email will not be accepted. The deadline for abstract submission is now January 31st, 2018. After this date the on-line system will be closed.

All abstracts (maximum 3.500 characters - including spaces) must be typed in English. Reviewers will reject contributions exceeding this words limit. No tables, figures, keywords, references can be included in the abstract at this stage. Abstracts must be submitted as a single paragraph (no Introduction, M&M, Result & Discussion, Conclusion).

Confirmation of your abstract presentation is sent right after your submission. In case you do not receive confirmation within a few days or if you have any difficulties in submitting your contribution please contact the conference secretariat at

Abstract Title

Keep the title concise and informative. Do not use abbreviations.

Choose your preferred presentation type from the drop down list: ‘Oral’, ‘Poster’ or ‘Indifferent’.


Choose one abstract theme from the six options in the drop down list:

  1. Substrates for AD
  2. Gas technology
  3. Process technology
  4. Microbiology
  5. Life cycle and life cost assessment
  6. Digestate post treatment and agronomic utilization

Authors & Affiliations

Please type all authors’ names and surnames in the text boxes provided on the online abstract submission system.

Provide the full postal address of each affiliation, including the country. Authors' affiliation addresses must be provided. In case of multiple affiliations please insert additional affiliation(s) in the proper space. Presenting author must be indicated by clicking the corresponding box.

Abstract Section

The body of the abstract should be typed into the text box provided in the ‘Abstract section’ of the online abstract submission system. Provide an adequate background, avoiding a detailed literature survey or a summary of the results and give the main objectives/hypothesis.  Be short and to the point. Define terms after presenting equation. Results should be clear and concise. When using equations use (1), (2) and use Microsoft equation software. Please, at this stage avoid extensive citations and discussion of published literature.

Once abstracts are submitted they cannot be edited. If you have any issues with your abstract after submission please contact the Scientific Committee:

After submission

Your abstract will be sent to the Scientific Committee. The Scientific Committee will accept abstracts for the Scientific Programme (oral or poster presentation) on scientific merit and conference organization. Accepted abstracts will be published on the book of abstracts. Notification of acceptance or rejection will be sent to the corresponding author by 9 February 2018. After acceptance Authors will be asked to submit a 2 pages extended abstract (deadline 16 April 2018) that will be included in the electronic version (.pdf) of the proceedings. Further instruction about the extended abstracts submission will follow.

Presenting authors must be registered to the Conference.

Please note that more than one abstract may be submitted by each person but a maximum of two presentations (e.g.: 2 oral or 2 poster or 1 oral + 1 poster) per registered author is permitted.

Only abstracts of registered participants will be included in the book of abstracts/electronic proceedings.

Please also note that only the corresponding author will receive information concerning the abstract.

Notification of acceptance or rejection abstract: March 9th, 2018

Deadline for extended abstracts submission: April 20th, 2018 - h 12:00

Notification of acceptance or rejection extended abstract: May 25th, 2018

Deadline for final extended abstracts submission: June 29th, 2018

Deadline for early bird registration: April 27th, 2018
